A-LEVEL LAW · FOR PARENTS

What You Need. In Plain English.

A straight answer to every parent question — what A-Level Law actually involves, where students lose marks, what each module includes, and whether £6.99 is genuinely worth it for your child.

What this is

The short version.

LawByLak is an A-Level and AS-Level Law revision resource built specifically for the OCR and AQA Law specifications. It's a one-person operation — every page is written, checked and updated by Lakshan Satheeskumar, a First-Class Law graduate qualifying as a solicitor who tutors A-Level Law every week.

Your child gets an interactive HTML study file with a printable revision PDF and quick-guide PDF — comparable in standard to what private tutors charge £30–60/hour to deliver — at £6.99 per topic. Every case fact is audit-checked against examiner reports. Every "use it in the exam" phrase mirrors what OCR and AQA mark schemes reward. This isn't generic AI-generated study notes. It's targeted, board-specific, exam-aligned material.

Lakshan Satheeskumar — founder of LawByLak
Who built it

Hi, I'm Lakshan.

I'm currently qualifying as a solicitor. Outside that, I tutor A-Level Law every week — more than 1,000 hours so far, mostly OCR and AQA candidates. I built LawByLak because I kept watching capable students lose marks for misread case facts and missed examiner language. It's the resource I wish I'd had as a student. Everything you'll see on this site is written by me, personally, and checked against the live specs and examiner reports.

Common questions

What parents actually ask.

Is £6.99 reasonable for revision content?
A private A-Level Law tutor in the UK charges £30–60/hour. For the same money as one hour of tutoring, your child gets 5-10 full topics of LawByLak content. It's deliberately priced to be accessible. That said — if money is tight, the free guides at /learn are excellent on their own and cost nothing.
How does my child actually access the file?
After purchase through Payhip, your child gets an instant download link by email. They save the HTML file (and PDF) to their device. They double-tap to open it. That's it. No login required. No app to install. Works offline after the first download.
What if my child doesn't find it useful?
Email hello@lawbylak.co.uk within 14 days of purchase for a no-questions refund. Lakshan reads every email personally. The standard is honest: if it doesn't get your child marks, they shouldn't have paid for it.
Can my child use this alongside their school resources?
Yes — most students use LawByLak alongside their textbook, class notes, and Save My Exams or similar. LawByLak is designed to fill the gap between generic revision sites and the specific phrasing OCR/AQA examiners reward. It's a focused supplement, not a replacement.
Is the content age-appropriate? Any concerns about content?
It's A-Level Law content — covering Criminal Law (including murder, manslaughter, non-fatal offences against the person, etc.) at the academic level required by the specification. The treatment is academic and case-based, identical to what their school textbook covers. No graphic content, no inappropriate material — just legal cases and principles examined at A-Level standard.
What's the founder's background — can I trust the credentials?
Lakshan Satheeskumar has a First-Class Law degree, a Master's in Law, is currently qualifying as a solicitor, works in law professionally, and has delivered 1,000+ hours of A-Level and AS-Level Law tutoring. His About page goes into more detail. He responds personally to every parent enquiry — feel free to email him before buying.
Will there be more topics added? What's the long-term plan?
Yes. The plan covers all of OCR H418 and AQA Law — Criminal Law (in progress), then Tort, Contract, Human Rights, English Legal System, and Law Making. New topics are being added regularly. Email list members get notified as each topic ships.
Is the company UK-based? VAT, registration, etc.?
Yes — UK-based, sole-trader operation run by Lakshan Satheeskumar. Payments are processed through Payhip (UK-registered platform handling VAT compliance). All data is GDPR-compliant. UK consumer rights apply, including the 14-day refund window beyond statutory requirements.
